Tell us about Gx3R

Gx3R comicsis a website (clearly) that hosts webcomics (imagine that). It was orignally intended as a High School "Senior Project" to be a webcomic / game reviewing site in 2004 but it never happened because the teachers frowned upon a carreer that relied on comptuers and wanted me to try something I wasn't interested in(I'm still upset with them). The site was after that was going to be a webcomic/game reviews/ cheat website but that was dreaming a bit large I admit for a group of friends with no real jobs at the time.

There are a few comics hosted here, each currently by seperate artists. P1-Z is what the site was created to host orignally, it's based off anything that comes to mind from random lines spat while playing games or something that happened between friends. Antares Complex, fllow Neige and her crew on dangerous missions as they try to make a living out in the chaotic galaxy. Read and enjoy the adventure like a real comic/graphic novel with a unique comic viewer on the website The other comics are by other artists, Toast Bunnies by Brian Girardin (yes my brother) and Zenny who helps with both, and I couldn't hope to tell you the reasons they created their comics, maybe I can get one of them to talk about it.

After the site was revived I wanted to make more comics, different comics, so Gx3R Comics was changed to be the comic brand for comics that are hosted on this website, think like a publisher, except via website medium. The "Gx3R Comic" was renamed to P1-Z to reflect Player 1and his friend Zenny and not to spoof Dragon Ball Z

I hope this answered any questions you probably didn't have, now wipe the drool off your face and read a comic!

When was Gx3R started?

It went live on 12/04/2005 and continued on for some time, but it was in the 'works' around 2003-2005 thankfully through many...many designs it ended up the way it did.

Do you take comic ideas?

Uhhh, sure. You can send them to my email here. You'll be given credit on the archive page if the idea is done.

How could I submit a comic?

Currently I'm only accepting Comic Singles. Comic Singles are single page comic strips that can either contain orignal characters, or a P1Z fan comic. These images will go into a collective page with other user submitted comics.

To send a comic to us just email it as an attachment as a jpg/png/gif with the subject "Submitting a Comic".

Fan comics are accepted, but still have to be approved first. Fancomics will be posted along with the "official" P1Z comics.

Notes:

  • Comics must be 800px wide or less
  • It is up to the creator to copyright their work
  • Characters in the comic must be of the artists own work, inother words dont use characters from other comics such as VG Cats or Penny Arcade.
  • Creators can make fan comics for Gx3R
  • Comics must be approved before they go live.

Would it be cool if I used part of a comic for a avatar?

Yeah sure, feel free. You get 25 awesome points from the prinny at least.

Prinny copyright NiS software <(Seriously dood I don't care)

What? Another Comic about roomates? Real orginal

Nice, anyway cheesemonkey the "P1Z guys" are office workers in an office that produces nothing. Maybe if you payed attention to the -hints- that are -spread- you might realize where they are is obvious, and that I am a fucking idiot.

How do you make your comics?

Step 1: Draw comic in pencil
Step 2: Ink comic or line in Adobe Flash
Step 3: Color it in either photoshop or flash.
Step 4: Add word balloons in whichever program is open.
Step5: ???
Step 6: Export to web
How can I get started?

Practice art, sit down and think out what you want to make a comic about. Talking this out with open minded people really does help and that's possibly one of the best ways to ensure your comic improves. WARNING: Take their opinions for what they are and do not take everything as fact and rewrite your ideas to theirs 100%, bounce ideas off them tweak ideas, but don't think an idea is bad because some jerk thought it wasn't good. Only consider what others say and perhaps let it inspire you.
Start learning digital art if you don't know already. It can certainly make somethings easier and there's a lot of ways to do it cheap or free. Here's a list of free programs to help you get started digitally:

Gimp- free art program
Filezilla- free FTP client
Google Docs- Basically Microsoft Office but online.
Open Office- A free clone of Microsoft Office.
Google Sketch-up- A free 3D modeling program.

And again, PRACTICE YOUR ART OFTEN, don't give up, look up tutorials and make something awesome. Doodle to get ideas, and a great tip is to try to diversifiy your reading/watching list because otherwise you'll find your style could become less "inspired by" and more "copying" of what you're into.

Other ways to help show your art:
Deviantart

When is the next [INSERT COMIC NAME] coming out? And why does it take so long for it to come out?

When it gets updated. It takes a long time because art isn't a job solved in a single right click. Write, draw, ink, scan, correct, paint, assemble page, add word balloons, upload to website, update social network sites, all of this done by one person and it takes a lot of time. So please understand it comes out when it comes out.

Antares Complex is usually updated saturdays.

I noticed there's no ads on Gx3R and I want to help support Gx3R, can I donate?

Yes you can donate to Gx3R, it helps with a lot of things, server costs, art supplies, keeping the computers running (this pentium 3 is bawss). So click below to donate via paypal.
